MEWP Training Courses

A mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) is a mechanical device used to provide temporary access for people or equipment to inaccessible areas, usually working at height. There are different types of access platforms commonly known as a “cherry picker” or a “scissor lift”.

MEWPs are generally used for temporary access such as building maintenance, construction applications and in airports. MEWPs are also used by firefighters for emergency access and are fitted with fire hoses (cannons). MEWPs can also be fitted with attachments to support compressed air and can feature power outlets for heavy-duty power tools.

MEWPs can only lift limited weights due to their design. Generally, MEWPs carry less than a ton, although some platforms have a higher safe working load (SWL). Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) are now built in many sizes.

1a. Static vertical
1b.Static Boom
3a Mobile elevating work platform Scissor lift
3b Mobile elevating work platform (boom) or (self-propelled)
PAV Push around vertical.

BMT&C offer Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) training courses for the novice operator, experienced operator & refreshers. We also provide management safety awareness courses for safe use of MEWPs that would benefit any person responsible for safe use and site safety.

For Novice operatives; BRITTOp NPORs & CITB recommend a minimum 2-3-day course dependent on the type of equipment used. experienced operator course duration may vary dependent on the amount of operator experience and ratio of delegates.

Refreshers is usually one day for maximum of 3 people renewing certification.

Generally, we would recommend BRITTOp mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) training as this is widely accepted scheme in warehousing, factories and majority of manufacturing industries, offering the operator better work opportunities. BRITTOp NPORS are a third-party associate with CITB which is accepted on some construction sites.

Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) training is for the all sizes of MEWP. This training prepares the operator for both the theory and practical tests.

Operators that achieve the required standards will be awarded BRITTOp mobile elevating work platform Certification and an optional Photo ID card.
